Procedures for Wound Care

Non-Healing Wounds

Ozark Surgical Group has partnered with Baxter Regional Medical Center to aggressively treat non-healing wounds. A wound is considered non-healing if it doesn’t heal appropriately within an acceptable time frame and fails to respond to debridement, dressing changes and antibiotics. Tissue hypoxia commonly prohibits wound healing. Those with cardiovascular disease, compromised blood flow and diabetes are at an increased risk of developing a non-healing wound. Increased protein intake and increased oxygen to the effective area can aid the healing process. Ozark Surgical Group uses a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to force high concentrations of oxygen to the center of the hypoxic area.
